Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a virtual meeting with all District Magistrates from his official residence, emphasizing the need to accelerate development efforts in every sector to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed district administrations to prepare long-term development roadmaps outlining how every village and district in Uttarakhand should evolve by the year 2047. He said the state’s objective of building a ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’ must begin at the grassroots level through comprehensive planning and effective implementation.

Focus on Inclusive Development

Chief Minister Dhami stressed the importance of ensuring that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach the last person in society. He directed District Magistrates to actively connect marginalized communities with public welfare initiatives and integrate them into the mainstream of development.

He also instructed every district administration to identify and implement five best practices and innovative initiatives aimed at improving governance and public service delivery.

Incentives for TB-Free Districts

The Chief Minister announced that the first three districts in Uttarakhand to become tuberculosis (TB)-free would be rewarded by the state government. He urged officials to intensify healthcare initiatives and awareness campaigns to eliminate the disease across the state.

Plantation and Environmental Protection Drive

Highlighting environmental conservation as a top priority, Dhami directed all District Magistrates to conduct regular cleanliness drives and organize a large-scale plantation campaign from June 5 (World Environment Day) to July 25.

He called for special promotion of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree in Mother’s Name) campaign and instructed officials to strengthen awareness campaigns aimed at making Uttarakhand plastic-free.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of water conservation projects and the progress of Amrit Sarovar initiatives. He instructed that a dedicated nodal officer be appointed in every district to oversee these projects.

Preparedness for Heavy Monsoon

Referring to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast of above-normal rainfall during the upcoming monsoon season, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure complete preparedness.

He instructed authorities to:

  • Complete the cleaning of drains before the onset of the monsoon.
  • Ensure uninterrupted drinking water, electricity, and road connectivity.
  • Maintain proper sanitation of water storage tanks.
  • Keep disaster management systems fully operational.
  • Activate toll-free emergency helplines across all districts and tehsils.

He further stressed that citizens should be able to receive immediate assistance during emergencies.

Strengthening Healthcare and Disaster Response

Chief Minister Dhami directed officials to ensure adequate preparedness for seasonal diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, and COVID-19.

He instructed all hospitals to verify the availability of essential medical facilities, medicines, equipment, and emergency response systems. District administrations were also asked to keep disaster management teams on high alert throughout the monsoon season.

Enhanced Arrangements for Char Dham Yatra

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for heightened vigilance along the Char Dham Yatra routes.

He instructed officials to strengthen:

  • Traffic management
  • Healthcare services
  • Security arrangements
  • Emergency response systems

to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims during the ongoing pilgrimage season.

Preparations for International Yoga Day and Kainchi Dham Festival

Dhami directed all districts to organize large-scale awareness campaigns and yoga camps ahead of International Yoga Day.

He also instructed officials to make comprehensive traffic management arrangements for the Kainchi Dham Foundation Day celebrations on June 15, including the creation of temporary parking facilities wherever required.

Crackdown on Fake Documents

The Chief Minister ordered stricter action against the illegal issuance of:

  • Aadhaar Cards
  • Ayushman Cards
  • Ration Cards
  • Other government documents

He directed district administrations to continue intensive verification drives and take strict legal action against those involved in fraudulent documentation.

Removal of Encroachments and Anti-Corruption Measures

Dhami instructed officials to launch special drives to remove illegal encroachments along roadsides.

He also directed that boards displaying the 1064 Anti-Corruption Helpline be prominently installed in all government offices to raise public awareness and encourage citizens to report corruption.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to building a corruption-free Uttarakhand through transparency and accountability.

Promoting Local Products and Sustainable Development

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the effective implementation of the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative and directed that locally manufactured products be given priority during government functions and official events.

He also instructed District Magistrates to regularly review the implementation of Chief Minister’s announcements and pay special attention to the status of land banks in their respective districts.

Additionally, he called for stronger efforts in:

  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Forest fire management
  • Natural resource conservation
  • Sustainable development initiatives

to ensure long-term environmental and economic growth.

Senior Officials Attend the Meeting

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat (virtually), and all District Magistrates across Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating that coordinated planning, innovation, environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, and transparent governance will play a crucial role in transforming Uttarakhand into a developed and sustainable state by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.
