Bharat Tex 2026 has once again demonstrated why India’s textile industry continues to be one of the country’s strongest manufacturing and cultural sectors. Bringing together artisans, exporters, manufacturers, designers, innovators, and international buyers under one roof, Bharat Tex has evolved into a comprehensive platform that highlights every stage of India’s textile value chain. From centuries-old handloom traditions to cutting-edge sustainable textile technologies, the event reflects the country’s ambition to strengthen its position in the global textile market.

Held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from July 14 to July 17, the third edition of Bharat Tex has attracted remarkable participation from across the world. The exhibition is aligned with the Government’s 5F vision—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign—which aims to create value throughout the textile production chain while boosting exports and employment.

Spread across nearly 1.6 million square feet, Bharat Tex has become much more than a trade exhibition. It serves as a meeting point where India’s traditional craftsmanship meets modern technology, sustainable manufacturing, and international commerce.

Bharat Tex Brings India’s Entire Textile Industry Together

One of the biggest strengths of Bharat Tex is its ability to represent the complete textile ecosystem on a single platform.

The exhibition covers every major segment of the industry, including natural fibres, yarn, fabrics, apparel, home furnishings, technical textiles, fashion products, handlooms, handicrafts, textile machinery, and sustainable innovations. Instead of focusing only on finished products, Bharat Tex showcases the complete journey of textile production, giving buyers and investors a comprehensive understanding of India’s manufacturing capabilities.

This integrated approach also allows businesses from different sectors of the industry to collaborate, explore partnerships, and strengthen supply chains.

The large-scale participation underlines the growing importance of Bharat Tex as one of the world’s major textile sourcing events.

Thousands of Global Buyers Strengthen Export Opportunities

This year’s Bharat Tex has attracted over 6,000 buyers representing more than 130 countries, while welcoming over 1.3 lakh trade visitors during the four-day exhibition.

Such international participation reflects India’s growing reputation as a reliable sourcing destination for textiles and apparel.

For exporters, the exhibition offers direct access to overseas buyers without the need for separate international trade missions. Buyers, on the other hand, are able to interact with manufacturers, artisans, exporters, and technology providers from across India in one location.

The exhibition features over 20,000 textile products spanning multiple categories, giving international businesses an extensive range of sourcing options.

By creating these direct business connections, Bharat Tex plays a significant role in supporting India’s export ambitions while opening new markets for domestic producers.

Traditional Craftsmanship Receives Global Recognition

While advanced textile manufacturing remains a major attraction, Bharat Tex also celebrates India’s centuries-old textile traditions.

Live demonstrations of block printing and fabric-making have become one of the exhibition’s most popular attractions, allowing visitors to witness skilled artisans create fabrics using traditional methods that have been preserved across generations.

One participating enterprise, Weaves, represents six generations of textile craftsmanship and works with nearly 200 artisans. The organisation produces approximately 2.5 lakh metres of hand block-printed fabric and specialises in traditional techniques such as Dabu, Bagru, and Batik printing.

According to company representatives, live demonstrations generated strong interest from international buyers, including visitors from Qatar, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar.

Such interactions not only generate export opportunities but also increase appreciation for India’s traditional textile heritage.

Bihar’s Tikuli Art Finds New International Audience

Regional handicrafts have also received significant attention at Bharat Tex.

Among the featured crafts is Bihar’s historic Tikuli art, an artistic tradition that dates back nearly 800 years.

Originally associated with decorative forehead ornaments, Tikuli art has gradually evolved into colourful enamel paintings created on wood, fabric, trays, coasters, and various decorative products.

Artist Arundhati Mahato from Patna explained that she trains nearly 25 women free of cost, enabling them to create handicrafts from their homes and generate sustainable incomes.

The exposure provided by Bharat Tex has introduced Tikuli art to international visitors who were previously unfamiliar with the traditional craft.

Such platforms are increasingly helping local artisans transform cultural heritage into viable business opportunities while preserving traditional art forms for future generations.

Indie Haat Expands the Celebration of Indian Crafts

Running alongside Bharat Tex, Indie Haat 2026 at the National Crafts Museum has further strengthened the event’s focus on India’s handloom and handicraft heritage.

The exhibition brings together 48 artisans and weavers alongside 12 design-led brands representing diverse regional traditions.

Visitors have the opportunity to explore several renowned Indian crafts, including Gulabi Minakari, Dokra, Usta Kala, Pichwai paintings, Sozni embroidery, Blue Pottery, silver filigree, Cheriyal paintings, Mata Ni Pachedi, papier-mâché products, Bagru block printing, Jamdani sarees, Odisha Ikat, and premium Muga and Eri silk.

This combination of traditional artisans and contemporary designers demonstrates how Indian crafts continue to evolve while maintaining their cultural identity.

Tribal Weaves Enter Contemporary Fashion

Bharat Tex is also helping traditional tribal textiles reach modern fashion markets.

Jharkhand-based fashion brand Johargram is presenting apparel inspired by tribal weaving traditions of the Uraon and Munda communities.

Instead of limiting these textiles to conventional shawls, the company has transformed traditional handwoven fabrics into shirts, jackets, trench coats, and other contemporary garments.

Around 80 weavers are currently associated with the initiative, providing employment while preserving indigenous weaving techniques.

Growing international demand has encouraged production expansion, and Bharat Tex has helped the company establish valuable connections with exporters and overseas buyers interested in ethically produced handcrafted fashion.

Handloom Cooperatives Expand Global Business Networks

Small cooperatives have also found significant opportunities through Bharat Tex.

Kanpur-based Niryaatak Handloom Cooperative Society Limited is exhibiting rugs, carpets, home furnishings, and décor products manufactured using cotton, wool, and recycled PET yarn.

Working with approximately 120 weavers, the cooperative has reported encouraging enquiries from international buyers, including businesses from Iraq and Algeria.

Participation through subsidised exhibition space provided by the Handloom Export Promotion Council has allowed smaller organisations to access global markets that may otherwise remain difficult to reach.

Such support helps local weaving communities compete internationally while increasing rural employment opportunities.

Sustainability Takes Centre Stage

Environmental responsibility has become an increasingly important theme at Bharat Tex.

One notable participant, ReFiber, is showcasing technology-driven solutions for collecting post-consumer textile waste and promoting circular economy practices within the fashion industry.

Instead of allowing discarded garments to reach landfills, the company channels reusable materials through partner organisations for recycling and upcycling.

Its digital marketplace also supports products made from recycled textiles, encouraging more sustainable consumption.

The company has received strong interest from visitors representing Bangladesh, Spain, Portugal, Sri Lanka, and the United States, highlighting the growing global demand for environmentally responsible textile solutions.

As sustainability becomes a key purchasing factor for international buyers, initiatives like these strengthen India’s competitiveness in responsible manufacturing.

Bharat Tex Strengthens India’s Global Textile Vision

The continued growth of Bharat Tex reflects India’s broader ambition to become one of the world’s leading textile manufacturing and sourcing destinations.

By bringing together artisans, cooperatives, exporters, manufacturers, technology companies, designers, policymakers, and global buyers on one platform, the exhibition creates opportunities that extend far beyond product display.

The event supports employment generation, encourages innovation, preserves traditional craftsmanship, promotes sustainable manufacturing, and expands export opportunities across multiple textile segments.

Through initiatives such as live craft demonstrations, international buyer interactions, sustainable textile innovations, and dedicated support for rural artisans, Bharat Tex continues to strengthen India’s textile ecosystem while showcasing the country’s remarkable diversity, manufacturing capability, and creative excellence before a global audience.
