In a significant action against street crime, the Delhi Police’s West District team has arrested a suspected criminal during a patrolling operation in the Madipur area and recovered an illegal button-actuated knife along with a stolen scooty. The swift action by the police team led to the arrest of a 28-year-old accused, identified as Jahid Hussain alias Sarif, a resident of Raghubir Nagar, Delhi. During the investigation, police found that the accused had previously been involved in a robbery case registered at PS Tilak Nagar. The recovery of the illegal weapon and stolen vehicle helped police work out two separate criminal cases.

Alert Patrolling Team Intercepts Suspicious Rider in Madipur

According to Delhi Police officials, the operation was conducted on 28 July 2026 as part of routine preventive patrolling and surveillance activities in the Madipur area.

At around 9:50 PM, police personnel Constable Daulat Ram and Constable Manjeet were conducting patrol duty near Kuda Khatta, Jheel Park, Madipur Village, Delhi, when they noticed a person approaching on a scooty from the direction of Shiv Mandir.

The rider allegedly became suspicious after noticing the police presence and attempted to avoid checking by taking a sudden U-turn.

However, the alert police personnel reacted immediately and intercepted the rider before he could escape. The individual was detained for verification and further questioning.

During enquiry, the person disclosed his identity as Jahid Hussain alias Sarif, aged 28 years.

During the personal search of the accused, police recovered one illegal button-actuated knife from his possession.

Possession of such prohibited weapons is punishable under the Arms Act, and police initiated legal action against the accused.

Following the recovery, a case was registered at Police Station Punjabi Bagh under:

FIR No. 374/2026 under Section 25 of the Arms Act

The accused was subsequently arrested, and further investigation was initiated to determine his involvement in other criminal activities.

Stolen Scooty Recovered, Vehicle Theft Case Solved

During verification of the scooty being used by the accused, police discovered that the vehicle was not legally owned by him.

The Suzuki Access scooty bearing registration number DL 6SBM 5971 was found to be stolen and linked with:

E-FIR No. 027343/2025 dated 03.10.2025 under Section 305(B) BNS, Police Station Rajouri Garden, Delhi

The recovery of the stolen vehicle helped police solve an additional criminal case and prevented further misuse of the stolen property.

With this recovery, the Delhi Police team successfully worked out two cases connected with illegal arms possession and vehicle theft.

Accused Previously Involved in Robbery Case

During background verification, police found that accused Jahid Hussain alias Sarif had a previous criminal record.

Police are now conducting further investigation to ascertain whether the accused has links with other criminal activities or gangs operating in the area.
