A Celebration of 54 Years of Dedicated Welfare Services
The Foundation Day marked another important chapter in the remarkable journey of the Police Families Welfare Society, an organisation established to improve the lives of Delhi Police personnel and their dependents.
For more than five decades, PFWS has worked towards supporting police families through various welfare initiatives, educational programmes, healthcare awareness campaigns, vocational training, counselling services, and community development activities.
Unlike many welfare organisations that focus on a single aspect of support, the Police Families Welfare Society has adopted a holistic approach by addressing educational, social, emotional, and economic needs of police families. The Foundation Day celebration provided an opportunity to acknowledge these achievements while reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to future welfare initiatives.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Graces the Foundation Day Programme
The presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as the Chief Guest added significance to the Foundation Day celebrations and reflected the government’s appreciation for the role played by Delhi Police families in supporting law enforcement personnel.
Police officers often serve under demanding conditions, including extended duty hours, emergency deployments, festivals, elections, disaster response operations, law and order management, and major public events. During such assignments, family members shoulder additional responsibilities at home, making their contribution equally important.
The Foundation Day programme recognised these silent contributions and celebrated the resilience shown by police families over the years.
The participation of the Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of strengthening welfare initiatives that directly benefit the families of those entrusted with maintaining public safety.

Leadership of Smt. Rachna Golchha Strengthens Welfare Initiatives
The Foundation Day celebrations were organized under the guidance of Smt. Rachna Golchha, President of the Police Families Welfare Society.
Under her leadership, PFWS continues to promote programmes that focus on women’s empowerment, skill development, education, healthcare awareness, personality development, and financial literacy for police families.
The organisation believes that supporting the family of a police officer ultimately contributes to improving the morale and efficiency of the force itself.
The Foundation Day programme reflected this philosophy by bringing together families, welfare volunteers, and senior officers on a common platform dedicated to appreciation, recognition, and community development.

Families from All 14 Welfare Centres Participate
One of the highlights of this year’s Foundation Day celebration was the enthusiastic participation of families representing all 14 Welfare Centres functioning under the Police Families Welfare Society.
These Welfare Centres act as important community hubs where various welfare programmes are organised throughout the year.
Their participation demonstrated the wide reach of the organisation and the strong network it has established across the Delhi Police community.
The gathering also provided families from different districts and units with an opportunity to interact, share experiences, and strengthen community bonds beyond their respective workplaces.
Such interactions help build mutual support systems that become especially valuable during difficult times faced by police personnel and their families.

Understanding the Role of the Police Families Welfare Society
The Police Families Welfare Society was established with the objective of improving the quality of life of police personnel and their dependents.
Over the years, the organisation has expanded its activities to include educational support for children, vocational training for family members, health awareness programmes, legal awareness sessions, counselling services, cultural events, and various initiatives promoting self-reliance.
The Foundation Day served as a reminder that policing extends beyond officers wearing uniforms. Behind every police officer is a family that provides emotional support, stability, and encouragement despite the demanding nature of the profession.
By strengthening these families, PFWS indirectly contributes to building a stronger and more motivated police force.

Why Welfare Matters in Modern Policing
Modern policing requires officers to remain physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared to respond to a wide range of situations.
Long working hours, emergency deployments, stressful investigations, public events, and law and order responsibilities often leave limited personal time for officers.
In such circumstances, family welfare becomes an essential component of organisational well-being.
The Foundation Day celebration highlighted how welfare initiatives help reduce stress, improve family stability, encourage children’s education, and promote financial independence among family members.
When police personnel know that their families have access to reliable welfare support, they can perform their professional responsibilities with greater confidence and peace of mind.
Foundation Day Reflects Delhi Police’s Human-Centric Approach
The celebration also showcased the human side of Delhi Police.
While the organisation is primarily known for maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring public safety, events like the Foundation Day demonstrate its equal commitment to caring for the people behind the uniform.
Senior officers attending the programme reinforced the message that the welfare of police families remains an organisational priority.
The continued support provided through PFWS reflects a broader vision where employee well-being is considered essential for improving professional performance and strengthening institutional resilience.

More Than an Anniversary—A Celebration of Community
The Foundation Day was not simply an annual function but a celebration of relationships built over decades within the Delhi Police family.
Former PFWS Presidents, serving office bearers, welfare volunteers, and police families gathered under one roof to celebrate shared achievements and recognise the journey of an organisation that has positively impacted thousands of lives.
The event also provided a platform for acknowledging the contributions of volunteers and committee members who work throughout the year to organise welfare activities benefiting police families.
Their dedication has enabled PFWS to remain an active and trusted support system for generations of Delhi Police personnel.
Delhi Police Continues to Prioritise Family Welfare
The successful organisation of the 54th Foundation Day once again reflected Delhi Police’s commitment to ensuring that the welfare of its personnel extends beyond the workplace.
By supporting education, healthcare, skill development, women’s empowerment, cultural activities, and community engagement, the Police Families Welfare Society continues to play an important role in improving the lives of police families.
The enthusiastic participation witnessed during the Foundation Day celebrations demonstrated the trust that families place in the organisation and its initiatives. It also highlighted the collective efforts of Delhi Police leadership, welfare volunteers, and committee members who continue working towards creating a supportive environment for those who dedicate their lives to public service.
The celebration served as a fitting tribute to 54 years of compassion, service, and community spirit, while reaffirming the Police Families Welfare Society’s enduring mission of standing beside every Delhi Police family through every stage of life.
