Police stated that the accused demanded information about the whereabouts of Mohit Bhardwaj @ Monu. When Afjal denied having any such knowledge, the confrontation escalated into a brutal assault. Rohit Lamba allegedly pointed a pistol at Afjal’s head, while Ritik Thakur attempted to stab him with a knife.
During the attack, Aditya Kumar allegedly restrained the victim, enabling the other two accused to repeatedly assault him with the knife. Afjal sustained serious injuries to both legs, and the attack appeared to be carried out with the intent to kill, police said.
The accused fled the scene when a motorcycle entered the lane, prompting panic and allowing the victim to survive the assault. The severity of the attack led to the registration of the attempt-to-murder case, triggering a focused police investigation.

Police officials said that after the arrest of his associates, Aditya became increasingly cautious, changing locations frequently and maintaining minimal contact with others to avoid detection.
