The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a wanted Jitender Gogi gang. The Shooter Arrested operation was carried out by the New Delhi Range of the Special Cell, leading to the capture of Sonu alias Sachin Chaudhary, a 24-year-old alleged gang shooter who had been absconding in multiple criminal cases across Delhi and Haryana.
Police officials recovered one semi-automatic pistol along with five live cartridges from the accused during the operation conducted in the Alipur area on May 15, 2026. According to investigators, the weapon recovered is suspected to have been used in an attempted murder case registered at Karawal Nagar police station in North-East Delhi.
The successful Shooter Arrested operation is being viewed as another major achievement for the Delhi Police Special Cell, which has consistently intensified its crackdown on organized criminal gangs operating across Delhi-NCR and neighboring states. Officials believe the arrest could help investigators uncover deeper links between local shooters, interstate gang networks, and handlers operating from abroad.
The operation was led by Inspector Vinay Pal and Inspector Manoj Kumar under the supervision of ACP Vivek Tyagi. Police officials deserve appreciation for conducting a coordinated and intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the arrest of a wanted accused who had managed to evade law enforcement agencies for months.
Shooter Arrested in High-Profile Attempt to Murder Case
According to Delhi Police, the accused was wanted in connection with FIR No. 318/2025 registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act at Police Station Karawal Nagar.
Investigators alleged that on October 16, 2025, the accused along with three associates attempted to murder a practicing lawyer in the Jagdamba Colony area of Johripur, Delhi. Police said the attackers allegedly intercepted the victim’s vehicle and opened fire before fleeing from the scene.
The case had drawn significant attention because of the alleged involvement of members associated with the Jitender Gogi gang, one of North India’s most notorious criminal networks.
Following the incident, Special Cell teams launched an intensive investigation that eventually led to the arrest of three co-accused persons earlier. However, Sonu alias Sachin Chaudhary had remained absconding and was later declared a “Proclaimed Person” by the court on April 10, 2026.
The latest Shooter Arrested operation finally brought the accused into police custody after months of technical surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Weapon Recovery Strengthens Police Case
One of the biggest developments in the Shooter Arrested operation was the recovery of the suspected firearm allegedly used in the Karawal Nagar firing case.
Police recovered:
- One semi-automatic pistol
- Five live cartridges
Investigators suspect the weapon recovered from the accused was the same firearm used during the attempted murder attack in October 2025.
The recovery is considered important because ballistic examination and forensic analysis may help establish a direct connection between the accused and the firing incident.
Delhi Police officials stated that illegal weapons remain one of the biggest concerns in gang-related crimes. Semi-automatic pistols are often preferred by gang operatives due to their quick firing capability and ease of concealment.
The successful recovery during the Shooter Arrested operation highlights the importance of intelligence-based policing in controlling the circulation of illegal firearms among organized criminal groups.
Accused Declared Proclaimed Person and Proclaimed Offender
Investigators revealed that the accused was already declared a Proclaimed Person in the Delhi attempted murder case linked to the Karawal Nagar firing incident.
In addition, he had also been declared a Proclaimed Offender in another criminal case registered at Police Station Israna in Panipat, Haryana. That case involved charges related to rioting, unlawful assembly, assault, and criminal intimidation.
Police records further showed that the accused was wanted in a dacoity case registered at Model Town police station in Panipat.
Officials stated that the accused had a growing criminal history and was allegedly involved in violent gang activities over the past several years.
The Shooter Arrested operation is therefore being viewed not just as an isolated arrest but as an important step in dismantling the wider criminal ecosystem associated with interstate gang networks.
Background of the Accused
According to investigators, Sonu alias Sachin Chaudhary is originally from Kaithal district in Haryana and was residing in the Panipat area before his arrest.
Police described him as a Class 10 dropout who allegedly became involved in criminal activities at a young age.
Before joining gang operations, he reportedly worked as:
- A security guard
- A floor mill operator
Officials stated that over time, the accused allegedly became dependent on financial support from the Gogi gang and eventually started participating in organized criminal activities.
The Shooter Arrested case once again highlights how gang networks often recruit young individuals facing unemployment, financial instability, or social vulnerability.
Law enforcement experts say criminal gangs frequently target economically weak youth by offering quick money, shelter, and a sense of identity. Once recruited, many become deeply involved in violent crimes including extortion, shootings, armed robbery, and gang rivalry attacks.
Connection With USA-Based Gang Associate
One of the most concerning revelations in the Shooter Arrested investigation is the alleged international connection linked to the gang network.
According to police, the accused came in contact with USA-based Sandeep Dahiya in 2021 through encrypted social media applications.
Investigators allege that Sandeep Dahiya acted as an overseas associate connected to the Gogi gang and maintained regular communication with the accused.
Police officials believe encrypted messaging platforms were used to coordinate criminal activities while avoiding interception by law enforcement agencies.
Investigators also stated that Sandeep Dahiya introduced Sonu to co-accused Aakash Panchal, who had already been arrested by the Special Cell earlier in connection with the Karawal Nagar firing case.
The Shooter Arrested operation has therefore raised fresh concerns about how organized gangs are increasingly using international handlers and digital communication tools to manage local criminal operations remotely.
Crime experts say many gang networks now rely on encrypted applications because they provide anonymity and make digital tracking more difficult for police agencies.
Shelter Provided After Dacoity Case
Police investigations further revealed that the accused allegedly received shelter from co-accused Aakash Panchal after becoming involved in a dacoity case in Panipat in 2022.
Officials stated that the accused had been absconding after the dacoity incident and was allegedly protected by gang associates during that period.
This aspect of the Shooter Arrested case demonstrates how gang structures often operate through mutual protection systems where members provide safe houses, financial assistance, and logistical support to wanted criminals.
Such networks make it challenging for law enforcement agencies to trace absconding accused persons, especially when multiple states are involved.
The Delhi Special Cell has increasingly focused on targeting these support systems to weaken gang infrastructure and reduce their operational capabilities.
Planned Attack on Lawyer in Delhi
Investigators alleged that the October 2025 attack on the lawyer in Karawal Nagar was not random but carefully planned.
Police claimed that the accused and his associates acted on instructions received from Sandeep Dahiya. The attackers allegedly blocked the victim’s car before opening fire.
Officials stated that the motive behind the attempted murder was linked to personal disputes involving co-accused Aakash Panchal and the victim.
According to investigators, the firearm used in the attack was allegedly arranged and sent through gang channels.
The Shooter Arrested operation has therefore become important not only because of the arrest itself but also because it helps investigators piece together the larger conspiracy behind the attempted murder case.
Police officials say gang-related violence in Delhi often stems from personal rivalries, extortion disputes, or revenge attacks, but such incidents can quickly escalate into organized criminal warfare if not controlled at an early stage.
Growing Challenge of Organized Gang Crime
The Shooter Arrested case once again highlights the continuing challenge posed by organized gangs operating across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and western Uttar Pradesh.
Even after the death of gangster Jitender Gogi in 2021, police agencies say remnants of the gang and associated operatives continue to remain active through decentralized criminal networks.
These gangs are often involved in:
- Extortion
- Illegal arms supply
- Contract killings
- Attempt to murder cases
- Robbery and dacoity
- Gang rivalry shootings
Police officials have repeatedly warned that younger recruits are being used as shooters because they are easier to influence and often desperate for money.
Experts believe the rise of encrypted apps, social media-based communication, and interstate criminal alliances has made gang operations more sophisticated than before.
The Delhi Police Special Cell has therefore adopted intelligence-driven policing methods involving technical surveillance, digital tracking, informers, and interstate coordination to counter gang-related crimes effectively.
Special Cell’s Continued Crackdown on Gang Networks
The successful Shooter Arrested operation reflects the growing efficiency of the Delhi Police Special Cell in tackling organized criminal syndicates.
Special Cell units are specially trained to handle high-risk operations involving gangsters, terrorists, interstate criminals, and illegal arms suppliers.
Officials say intelligence gathering, surveillance, and rapid operational response are critical in such cases because gang operatives frequently change locations and use fake identities.
The arrest of a wanted shooter linked to multiple criminal cases is expected to provide investigators with valuable information regarding:
- Gang funding channels
- Arms procurement routes
- Shelter providers
- Communication methods
- Interstate criminal links
Police are also likely to investigate whether additional gang members remain active in Delhi-NCR or Haryana.
The Shooter Arrested operation has sent a strong message that law enforcement agencies are continuing their aggressive action against organized crime and gang violence in the region.
