Secret Tip-Off Leads to Strategic Trap
The operation was launched after the police received specific and reliable information about the movement of illegal liquor into Delhi from a neighboring state. Acting promptly, a special team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Kamlesh Kumar.
Understanding the seriousness of the input, the team carefully planned the operation and laid a trap near the Delhi-Haryana border, a location frequently used by smugglers to transport illegal goods. The officers positioned themselves strategically to intercept the suspect without raising suspicion.

Dramatic Chase Ends in Arrest
In the early hours of the morning, the suspected vehicle—a white Wagon-R—was seen approaching the area. The police team signaled the driver to stop for checking. However, instead of cooperating, the driver tried to escape, triggering a high-speed chase.
The police team acted quickly and chased the vehicle with precision and coordination. Despite the accused’s attempt to flee, the officers managed to intercept the car near Ramleela Ground. The swift and determined response ensured that the suspect was caught before he could escape or dispose of the illegal goods.
Massive Quantity of Illicit Liquor Recovered
After stopping the vehicle, the police conducted a thorough search. They discovered a large quantity of illegal liquor hidden inside the car. In total, 54 cartons containing 2700 quarters of illicit liquor were recovered.
The seized liquor was identified as “Fresh Santra Masaledar Desi Sharab,” which is meant for sale only in Haryana. Its transportation and sale in Delhi without proper permission is strictly prohibited under the Delhi Excise Act.
Officials emphasized that such illegal activities not only break the law but also cause heavy financial losses to the government. Moreover, the sale of unregulated liquor can pose serious health risks to consumers, making it a major public safety concern.
Accused Profile: From Driver to Smuggler
The accused has been identified as Deepak, a resident of Palam in Delhi. During initial questioning, it was revealed that he had studied up to the 9th standard and had earlier worked as a driver.
According to police sources, Deepak was attracted to the illegal liquor trade due to the promise of quick and easy money. Over time, he became actively involved in supplying illicit liquor across state borders.
Investigators also found that he is a repeat offender. He has previously been involved in a case registered under the Delhi Excise Act, indicating his continued involvement in unlawful activities.
Case Registered, Network Under Scanner
Following the arrest, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Delhi Excise Act at Police Station Dwarka South. The police have started a detailed investigation to uncover the larger network behind this illegal trade.
Officials are now working to identify the source of the liquor, the supply chain, and other individuals who may be involved in the racket. The aim is to dismantle the entire network and prevent such activities in the future.
