New Delhi: In a shocking incident that raised serious security concerns, a man allegedly drove his car into the Delhi Assembly premises in an attempt to draw attention to the disappearance of his nephew. The accused, identified as Sarabjit, has been arrested, and police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
According to initial reports, Sarabjit took this extreme step to highlight the case of his nephew, who has been missing since April 1. A missing complaint had already been registered at Hari Nagar Police Station, but the accused believed that his concerns were not being addressed adequately. He reportedly assumed that by entering the Delhi Assembly premises, he would be able to reach senior officials and get immediate attention for the case.

Desperate Act to Seek Attention
Police officials said that Sarabjit deliberately drove his car into the Delhi Assembly area, hoping to bring urgency to the missing person case. During questioning, he revealed that he believed a high-ranking official inside the Delhi Assembly would listen to him and take swift action.
Investigators stated that while the act may have been driven by desperation, it posed a serious threat to public safety. A moving vehicle in a high-security zone could have caused significant harm if not controlled in time.
No Weapons Found, Car Used as Potential Threat
During the search, police did not recover any weapon from Sarabjit or his Car. However, officials emphasized that the car itself could have been used as a dangerous tool.
“A vehicle can be as lethal as a weapon if used recklessly. It could have run over someone and caused serious injury,” a police officer said.
Authorities are treating the incident with utmost seriousness, considering the potential risk involved.
Accused Acted Alone
Police confirmed that Sarabjit entered the Delhi Assembly premises alone and that no accomplice was directly involved in the act. However, during the investigation, it was found that he had taken the help of two taxi drivers to navigate the routes in Delhi.
Since he was not familiar with the roads, he reportedly paid ₹2000 to the drivers to guide him. After leaving the Delhi Assembly area, he asked them for directions to Parliament and took them along in his car for assistance.

Taxi Drivers Under Questioning
The two taxi drivers are currently being questioned as part of the investigation. However, police sources have clarified that, so far, there is no evidence suggesting their involvement in the crime.
“They were only guiding him with directions and had no role in the incident,” an official said, adding that their statements are being verified as a precautionary measure.
Mental Health Angle Under Verification
Sarabjit’s family has claimed that he has been mentally disturbed and undergoing treatment. His wife reportedly provided a medical prescription from Shahjapur, suggesting that he has been receiving treatment for mental health issues.
Police are currently verifying these documents to confirm the claims. Officials said that while the mental health angle is being examined, they are not solely relying on this explanation and are investigating all aspects of the case.
Financially Stable Background
Interestingly, police revealed that Sarabjit appears to be financially stable. He is described as a physically strong individual and had recently purchased a new Tata Sierra car in February this year.
This detail has raised further questions about his motive and planning, as his actions do not appear to be driven by financial stress.
Aggressive Behaviour in Custody
Officials reported that Sarabjit displayed highly aggressive behaviour after his arrest. During the night, he allegedly created a disturbance inside the police lockup, shouting loudly and shaking the iron grills.
“He was behaving violently and speaking irrationally,” a police source said. At one point, he reportedly claimed that he possessed a “maharaja’s sword,” further raising concerns about his mental state.
Medical Examination and Legal Action
The accused has undergone a medical examination and will be produced before the Tis Hazari Court. Police have registered a case against him under serious charges, including attempt to murder, considering the potential threat his actions posed to others.
Officials stated that driving car into a crowded or sensitive area with disregard for safety can be treated as an attempt to cause harm.
Investigation Underway
Police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Call Detail Records (CDR) are being analyzed to track Sarabjit’s movements and contacts before and after the incident.
Authorities are also examining CCTV footage and other evidence to piece together the sequence of events and determine whether there was any larger plan or external involvement.
Focus on Missing Nephew Case
Meanwhile, the case of the missing nephew remains under investigation. Police officials have assured that all efforts are being made to trace the missing individual and that the case is being handled seriously.
They have urged the public not to take extreme steps and instead rely on legal and proper channels to address grievances.
Security Concerns Raised
The car incident has also raised concerns about security arrangements in high-profile government areas. Officials are reviewing protocols to ensure that such breaches do not occur in the future.
While no injuries were reported, the situation could have turned dangerous if not handled promptly.
Police Urge Public to Remain Calm
Authorities have appealed to citizens to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands. They emphasized that extreme actions not only endanger lives but also complicate legal proceedings.
Police reiterated their commitment to investigating both the Delhi Assembly incident and the missing person case thoroughly, ensuring that justice is served in accordance with the law.
