The operation, led by the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS), resulted in the arrest of three drug traffickers, including two African national residents acting as supplier and source, and the recovery of a commercial quantity of MDMA along with ganja and vehicles used for transportation.

The operation was carried out by a dedicated team of the Anti-Narcotics Squad, East District, under the close supervision of Inspector Arun Kumar, Incharge ANS East, and overall guidance of ACP Pawan Kumar (OPS), East District. First Breakthrough: Supplier Nabbed Near Star City Mall
On June 30, 2026, the Anti-Narcotics Squad received specific secret information that an African national named John was involved in the supply of the psychotropic substance MDMA and would arrive near Star City Mall on the Delhi–Noida Link Road to deliver drugs.
Acting swiftly, the ANS team laid a trap at the identified location. During surveillance, the suspect was spotted riding a scooty bearing registration number DL10SZ***. On noticing police presence, the suspect attempted to flee by taking a wrong-side U-turn, collided with a road divider, and tried to escape on foot. He was immediately overpowered and apprehended by the police team.
The accused was identified as John, a 35-year-old resident of Senegal, currently residing in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi.
Recovery of Commercial Quantity of MDMA
During a lawful personal search, police recovered 12.86 grams of MDMA from John’s possession. The recovered substance falls under commercial quantity as defined under the NDPS Act, highlighting the seriousness of the offence.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 278/2026 was registered at Mayur Vihar Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and a detailed investigation was initiated.
Link to Local Peddler: Second Arrest on Akshardham Road
During sustained interrogation, accused John disclosed that he supplied MDMA to a local peddler named Diwakar, delivering drugs at random locations between Chilla Noida Border and Akshardham Road to avoid detection.
Based on this disclosure, the ANS team launched a follow-up operation using technical surveillance and manual intelligence. Diwakar, a 27-year-old resident of Baba Colony, Burari, was apprehended from Akshardham Road along with his scooty bearing registration number DL8SDD**.
A search conducted in accordance with legal procedures led to the recovery of:
- Approximately 3 grams of MDMA
- 30 grams of ganja
The narcotics were seized, and Diwakar was taken into custody.
Uncovering the Source: Third Arrest Completes the Drug Supply Chain
With the Drug Supply Chain and peddler in custody, police sought to identify the source of the narcotics. Upon obtaining police custody remand of accused John, further interrogation revealed that the MDMA was procured from another African national named Solomon, who allegedly delivered the drug at random locations in Mayur Vihar and surrounding areas.
To dismantle the entire syndicate, the ANS team laid another strategic trap near Crown Plaza Hotel Road, Akshardham Road, and Chilla Border Road.
On the instance of accused John, the team successfully arrested Solomon, aged 37 years, a permanent resident of Anambra, Nigeria, and currently residing in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi. He was apprehended while riding a scooty bearing registration number DL8SCK*.
A personal search led to the recovery of 5.23 grams of MDMA from his possession.
Seizures and Material Evidence
With the arrest of all three accused, police recovered and seized substantial evidence, including:
- 21.09 grams of MDMA (commercial quantity)
- 30 grams of ganja
- Three scooties used for drug transportation
- Two mobile phones used for coordination
The total estimated value of the recovered narcotics is approximately ₹4 lakh in the international illicit market.
Verification regarding vehicle ownership and possible involvement in additional criminal activity is currently underway.
Modus Operandi: Addiction, Contact, and Profit Motive
During interrogation, accused Diwakar disclosed that he initially came into contact with John during his own consumption of MDMA near Chilla Border Road. What began as substance abuse gradually evolved into active drug peddling.
Police officials stated that Diwakar started purchasing MDMA pouches in bulk from John and selling them at higher prices for quick financial gain, fully aware of the illegality involved.
Both African nationals failed to produce valid passport or visa documents, raising additional concerns about immigration violations.
Investigators noted that all three accused were motivated by economic benefit, exploiting addiction vulnerabilities in densely populated urban areas for personal profit.
